Bio
Kevin Close is a PhD Candidate at Arizona State University in the Learning, Literacies, and Technologies Program. He holds a M.Ed. student in the Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences (ITLS) program at Utah State University and a B.A. in religion from Carleton College in Minnesota.
Before attending ASU, Kevin spent five years teaching around the world. Specifically, Kevin taught English and SAT mathematics at the Wuhan Foreign Language School in Wuhan, China, Developmental Mathematics at Salt Lake Community College in Taylorsville, Utah, and Chinese Language at Kearns-St. Ann Catholic Elementary School in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Kevin enjoys traveling the world and speaks Mandarin Chinese and a little Mongolian. When not traveling, he enjoys anything in the outdoors, specifically, playing ultimate frisbee and backpacking.
Kevin’s research interests include: alternative assessment methods, validity, teacher evaluation, peer feedback, and learning analytics.

Aug 2015 - May 2106: Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences Student Association President.
June 2015 - Present: Lead informal Python Programming Language Group.
Sept 2015: Served as Tournament Director for 16-team regional ultimate frisbee tournament at Utah State University.
April 2015: Volunteered with Mt. Logan Middle School Odyssey of the Mind team at the World Championships in East Lansing, Michigan.
Feb-April 2015: Lead weekly programming class at Wilson Elementary School for 4th and 5th grade students with Dr. Sarah Brasiel.
